Girls in the Garage Car Show 2014

Ever wonder where all the girls are in the car world?  Not just the models, but the girls who actually own, drive, and know how to work on their own vintage cars?  We found a whole bunch of them this past Saturday at the Girls in the Garage All Girl Car Show at El Camino College!AGELCam-DSC_0001rAGELCam-DSC_0002rDropin' it low, this vintage beauty featured its own quirky touch, a Mr. Spaulding (Sig Haig) shifter head from the Rob Zombie movies House of 1000 Corpses and The Devil's Rejects.AGELCam-DSC_0003rAGELCam-DSC_0004rEl Camino College features a program and campus club titled Women in Technology (WIT) which "supports women pursuing non-traditional majors and careers."  They "encourage women to view non-traditional employment from a practical, hands-on interactive stance."AGELCam-DSC_0081rThis 851 Auburn was quite an enjoyable sight...AGELCam-DSC_0086r... anyone loving that grille as much as we are?AGELCam-DSC_0085rAGELCam-DSC_0084rAGELCam-DSC_0083rAGELCam-DSC_0087rAGELCam-DSC_0091rMmm... pontoon fenders!  Wowsa!AGELCam-DSC_0092rAGELCam-DSC_0089rAGELCam-DSC_0093rAll those curves AND a boatail rear end?  Love at first sight!AGELCam-DSC_0078rWe had a lovely chat with the stylish Peggy, who owns this gorgeous Model A which she bought in Big Bear in August.  With a 16 gallon gas tank, she says she can drive this one anywhere, and she does because it runs like a top!  She's also the lucky owner of a 1929 roadster!AGELCam-DSC_0073rAGELCam-DSC_0074rAGELCam-DSC_0075rAGELCam-DSC_0077rAGELCam-DSC_0076rAGELCam-DSC_0079rAGELCam-DSC_0071rThis show also included a vintage fashion exchange...AGELCam-DSC_0095r... where we found a few vintage "girl" themed tools like this one - the "Able Mabel" workbench wench.  My, have we come a long way!AGELCam-DSC_0069rAGELCam-DSC_0068rAGELCam-DSC_0065rPinups and parasols were everywhere throughout the show, which made us think... why can't all car shows have a decent dose of girls who know their way around a great car?AGELCam-DSC_0066rAGELCam-DSC_0064rGuys and gals danced to high-octane rockabilly tunes from The Hot Rod Trio.AGELCam-DSC_0094rAGELCam-DSC_0062rWe loved this clean little VW Transporter, which looked quite at home in the sunshine.AGELCam-DSC_0072rAGELCam-DSC_0060rAGELCam-DSC_0061rThis girl travels in style, both in her choice of car and accessories!AGELCam-DSC_0059rAGELCam-DSC_0104rThe cutest pinup of the day?  This redhead in a vintage suit and parasol, posing in front of a little teardrop trailer!AGELCam-DSC_0103rAGELCam-DSC_0058rYou know how I feel about curvy, raw-metal cars - so its no surprise that I fell head-over-heels for this 1948 Ford Truck called "Bondorella."  Owner Lori Bentley Law, the author of Motor Dolls, completed several aspects of the project herself, including "grinding off all the nasty bondo" (can you believe this stunning truck once had bondo? what a transformation!) and rebuilding the brakes.AGELCam-DSC_0097rLori says she left the smart stuff to the pros, like rebuilding the flathead.  From the design in the metal to the sparkling clear coat, I loved every bit of this truck!AGELCam-DSC_0055rAGELCam-DSC_0054rAGELCam-DSC_0053rAGELCam-DSC_0048rThis emerald green 1950s Plymouth Plaza was a stunning in every detail.  We particularly liked the Mooneyes hubcaps.AGELCam-DSC_0047rAGELCam-DSC_0050rAGELCam-DSC_0049rAGELCam-DSC_0046rAGELCam-DSC_0007rThis two-toned '57 Chevrolet 210 Prototype is literally one of a kind...AGELCam-DSC_0100rAGELCam-DSC_0008r... nicknamed "Gumby," we can see why it is popular at shows!AGELCam-DSC_0099rAGELCam-DSC_0098rAGELCam-DSC_0045rAGELCam-DSC_0044rAGELCam-DSC_0043rWe liked that cars in all project stages were in attendance, like this early 60s Ford Falcon.AGELCam-DSC_0037rAGELCam-DSC_0040rAGELCam-DSC_0041rJust enough space on the dash for a little family photo!AGELCam-DSC_0039rAGELCam-DSC_0042rAGELCam-DSC_0036rThe top of this 1950s Cadillac had a little surprise in store for us...AGELCam-DSC_0032r... beautiful metal work with a cool design and a green tinted clear coat!AGELCam-DSC_0034rAGELCam-DSC_0035rAGELCam-DSC_0022rAGELCam-DSC_0023rAGELCam-DSC_0025rAGELCam-DSC_0024rAGELCam-DSC_0027rAGELCam-DSC_0029rJust in time for the sunshine, this Snoopy's Endless Summer wagon was a hit with show goers.AGELCam-DSC_0028rAGELCam-DSC_0031rAGELCam-DSC_0067rAGELCam-DSC_0021rHow about chrome detailing that perfectly accentuates the lines of this classic?  This '55 Ford Victoria is to die for!AGELCam-DSC_0020rAGELCam-DSC_0019rAGELCam-DSC_0017rAGELCam-DSC_0016rAGELCam-DSC_0009rAGELCam-DSC_0006rAGELCam-DSC_0005rThanks to the fabulous all-girl crew from El Camino's WIT program for putting on such a fun show!
